We have some cool pieces that are free for you to use. The mother of the bride dressed up the gazebo for under $100! Here at Mitchell Grove, we are so happy to have this area for the DIY couples that crave a forest vibe. We put up the twinkle lights in the orchard and this couple added to it! It looks fantastic! DIY’ing your wedding at Mitchell Grove does not mean you have to do it all. If you want to learn more reach out ❤️ As you plan your diy wedding, you will have plenty of room and privacy! This couple created these really great fairy lights to line the path into the forest where they had their wedding. It’s so convenient to set-up the tables the day before your wedding. But, there is the issue of dew. This couple had it going on! They set up the tables and used plastic sheeting to keep the dew off. At a #diyweddingvenue you don’t have to do it all … this was created by Eureka Florist. There is something magical about a wedding venue in an apple orchard in a redwood forest. This couple created the coolest photo booth … A couple made these benches for their wedding and then donated them to our lending closet ♥️ Can you believe these are fake flowers the couple draped the night before their wedding. Having a budget does not diminish your wedding day. We love being a diy wedding venue and witnessing the magic that the couples bring! These chairs look so good. Design is simple and very affordable. Each couple uses their creativity and each wedding is very different. The bride and her friend executed this beautiful setting in the orchard. This couple made great use of our road for pictures … really shows off the forest vibe. DIY String Lights in the Orchard! I just loved how the couple strung lights in the trees! We have power plugs at the top of our light poles and the father-in-law used those plugs to keep the lights overhead and then into the orchard. It looked even better at night but that picture did not turn out. Night photography is not a skill I posses. (Vendor Credits: J29 was the planner, Accurate Productions was the D.J., rentals were from North Coast Events and Rentals, Rustic Pieces were from Something Borrowed, Uniquely Yours was the caterer, the easel was from our lending closet, and the venue was Mitchell Grove.) This arch was a collaboration between the bride and Suzy Haggerty Designs. The bride brought the fake flowers and Suzy did the draping. The arch was from our lending closet. Mitchell Grove has many different areas, with very distinct vibes, that you can use for your wedding. This area has not been utilized yet. But, this year that is changing. A couple is making plans to use this area. We love how each and every wedding is so different. As a venue catering to the DIY couple, we do tend to highlight what the couples have done. However, if you wish to hire talent and let them do it for you, that is also welcomed here at Mitchell Grove. This image was taken by Moonstone Images and the florist was Flora Organica Designs. The chairs were rented from the Party Place. This bride did her own flowers with her own flair. For her, the aromatics were paramount! The chairs were from North Coast Events and Rentals. We allow dogs. We do have sheep, ducks, pigs, and our own dogs to keep safe as well. Normally, we have people keep their dogs on leashes and away from the areas where we have stashed our animals. This dog would not tolerate a collar. For the owner, we set up an electric fence. The dog hit the fence a few times and then settled in, happily. It allowed the dog to have an area to relax in and eliminated barking during the ceremony. It is not for the faint of heart. But, if you are willing, then we are willing. This couple made hard cider for their wedding favors. If this is something you are interested in, let us know. It does require planning around when the fruit is in season. If you come for a tour, we have it on tap. This couple allowed their friend to style their wedding. It was a smart choice and a good use of his skills. He was a former florist and made great use of our lending closet. We have some great pieces that we let couples use free of charge. I have couples tell me all the time that I need to highlight the fact that we do have indoor space. This bride made good use of the hall for the reception. The capacity of the hall is 88 people so it can accommodate a smaller wedding. We updated the bar inside the hall. It looks great. But, there was an even more important reason, the functionality! Mitchel Grove has plenty of room for events. However, having to walk all the way to the outside bar was messing with the flow of events. If people are too spread out, it can dimish the energy of the event. This couple hired a taco truck for their rehearsal dinner. It was amazing! They made it up and down our road without any problems. The food was out quickly and without any backlog. For our local brides, this taco truck is with the Taqueria La Barca on Myrtle It was a warm day and this couple created a cute smoking area in the orchard. The umbrellas and vintage bucket are part of the lending closet. The hydrangeas were in bloom. We had so many that this bride was able to use them as flowers for her wedding. If we have it, we are likely to let you use it.
