At Mitchell Grove, most of our weekends are filled long in advance with full weddings. But every once in a while, a date goes unsold — usually because it’s close in or it lands in October when there’s a chance of rain. That gave us an idea: why not open those rare weekends for something smaller and simpler?
We’re calling them DIY elopement days. Think of it as a scaled-down version of a full wedding, with all the same orchard and forest beauty but on a smaller, easier scale. The plan is simple: one day, about 20–25 people, and a $2,500 flat rate. You bring the people who matter most, we’ll provide the setting, and together you’ll write a story that doesn’t need all the extras to be beautiful.
The private forest feels especially right for this kind of gathering. There’s a pair of trees growing side by side, joined at the roots, that feels like the perfect symbol for a day built on intimacy and connection. It’s not about filling a big hall or renting a giant tent — it’s about sharing vows, a meal, and a moment together in a place that already holds the quiet magic you need.
DIY has always been our way here. These elopement days are just one more way to give couples room to make the story their own — even if it’s smaller, quicker, or riskier with a little October rain. Sometimes love doesn’t need perfect weather. It just needs a place.
