Some weddings at Mitchell Grove have a rhythm all their own, and this one is a perfect example. The ceremony took place in the orchard, with the redwoods providing a towering backdrop. The couple chose a wooden arch from our lending closet and set out half benches and half chairs to seat their guests.
The reason was simple and smart: by using benches for half the seating, they could leave the chairs in place around the reception tables. Guests didn’t have to carry chairs from one space to another, and when the ceremony ended, the reception was already waiting.
It was a thoughtful use of the benches that kept the flow of the day smooth and effortless. The ceremony and reception connected naturally, and the orchard and redwoods remained the focus—no extra moving pieces required.
