An apple a day keeps the décor budget at bay.

September 1, 2025 Weddings

Not everything in the lending closet is a physical item, and apples are a perfect example. While you won’t find them stored on a shelf, we’re always happy to share what’s in season. Couples often ask if they can use apples for décor — tucked into baskets, scattered along tables, or even piled high as a rustic centerpiece — and the answer is yes. Just let us do the picking, since pulling apples the wrong way can damage the spur and affect next year’s harvest.

If you’d like more than a few for decorations, we can provide a large basketful for cooking or making something special to serve your guests. We always have plenty, and it’s a small way to connect your celebration to the orchard itself. Apples may not technically belong in the lending closet, but they are very much part of the Mitchell Grove experience.
