Did you know Mitchell Grove has an indoor hall? Most couples don’t end up using it for their actual ceremony or reception because our gardens, orchards, and redwoods usually steal the spotlight. But the hall has its own kind of charm and practicality.
It’s the place where flowers get arranged the day before, where DIY projects come together, and where boxes, décor, and supplies get tucked away while the big day unfolds. It’s also home to a very cool bar (yes, you’re welcome), and of course, the bathrooms.
Every so often, guests remind us—“you should tell people you have a hall!” So here’s me saying it: yes, we do! Its capacity is about 80, and it can be a handy indoor wedding space if you want to use it. That said, we always recommend couples not rely solely on it as a rain backup. The logistics of “turnover”—switching a space from ceremony to reception—are tricky, especially in wet weather, because you can’t exactly reset a room with guests standing in it.
That’s why, for DIY weddings in Northern California where rain is a possibility, we suggest booking a tent. Think of the hall as a bonus: a practical, flexible space that’s there if you need it, but not one you should count on as your entire wedding plan.
